Brisbane Account Manager
Your best career advice? Learn! It is critical to keep on learning and asking questions. To be successful you need to know your stuff, so always strive to improve what you know and how you operate.
A career highlight? My recent promotion to Account Manager is obviously a highlight; I’m looking forward to the challenges and extra responsibilities. I’m relishing the chance to work alongside more experienced colleagues and learning the new aspects of my role in the business.
What do you enjoy about your job? The end product! Knowing you have exceeded your clients expectations by finding them that hard-to-get person, or filling a critical position that gets them out of a tight spot. I enjoy that clients know they can rely on me to deliver quality people and service. Of course, I also love telling candidates they have a new job!
Most challenging placement? Bulk orders are always tricky; getting a call on Friday afternoon for 40 people to start on the following Monday certainly kick-starts my weekend! Whenever it’s happened here we’ve stepped up, sourcing people from our database, job networks and word of mouth. We make sure our clients are taken care of.
Who has inspired you most at work? John Stegman, one of the Brisbane’s longest serving staff, is a great inspiration. Always more than willing to lend a hand to anyone who asks for it, John drops what he is doing to help out with administration or technical computer problems. John’s can-do attitude and technical knowledge are fantastic.
TROJAN TACKLES TRADE SKILL SHORTAGE
Trojan Workforce Sydney is combating the skills shortage in cabinetmaking and giving back to the community at the same time!
Trojan Workforce Sydney Branch Manager, Gianni Rigutto, coordinates Trojan’s sponsorship of Lidcombe TAFE’s Cabinetmaker Apprentice of the Year award.
“Dealing with both employers and cabinetmakers every day, I am aware of both the skill shortage and demand for this trade,” explains Gianni. “I arranged the sponsorship to help promote the tradespeople of the future.”
Gianni attended the student graduation in May to present Trojan’s prize, a handsome watch. The winner was Warwick Bailey, the cabinetmaking apprentice with the highest average mark across three years of the course.
Besides contributing to the community, the sponsorship is an excellent networking opportunity for Trojan Workforce, and Trojan is considering sponsorship of the shopfitting apprentice prize as well.
“I want Trojan to give back to the industry that I grew up working in. The winner benefits because they are recognised as a high achiever from the outset of their education,” Gianni says.
“When top quality graduates are available for work, they will think ‘Trojan’. With the current skills shortage in cabinetmaking and shop fitting, it’s important to attract quality contract staff so we can continue to meet our clients’ needs.”
A cabinetmaker by trade, Gianni already has hands-on experience in carving out top quality graduates, having taught cabinetmaking part-time for six years at Lidcombe TAFE.
