CORUS RAMPS UP INTERNATIONAL RECRUITMENT
Corus Adelaide’s campaign to connect with British job seekers before they reach Australian shores is bearing fruit.
“Our first placement from the campaign just returned to the UK after temping at the University of South Australia,” says Susan Manuel, Corus Adelaide Business Development Manager. “He enjoyed his experience as a Corus contractor so much he referred several friends to us, who are also working for us on a temporary basis.”
CORUS ‘ANGELS FOR A DAY’
Corus Adelaide’s Jill Murphy and Susan Manuel took up their ladles in October to serve breakfast at the Hutt Street Centre. As ‘Angel for a Day’, Corus covered the cost of breakfast and lunch for 200 homeless people.
“Serving breakfast meant we made a difference for a day, but through our Community Partnership Agreement we can make a lasting impact,” Susan says.
“We enjoy being involved in our community and work with many notfor- profit organisations, offering reduced rates for recruitment.”

CORUS NOMINATED FOR DIVERSITY@WORK AWARDS
Corus People Solutions (Western Sydney branch) were Diversity@Work award finalists, as an employer of culturally and linguistically diverse staff.
The awards acknowledge individuals, teams and organisations that encourage and implement innovation in human rights, diversity and inclusion within the workplace.
“We were inspired by the way different cultures and nationalities fit together so well within our team,” says Melissa Agnew, Corus Recruitment Manager. “We have staff from Chinese-Cambodian, Australian, Maltese, New Zealand, Egyptian, Indian, Syrian and Persian backgrounds.”
Melissa says the fact that some consultants can speak with candidates in their own language gives Corus an advantage in the tight labour market.
“Our diverse backgrounds and cultures mean everyone brings a different piece of knowledge to the group and we can better understand our clients and candidates.”
The Awards Gala Dinner was held in November in Melbourne.
