TROJAN WORKFORCE OPENS IN WESTERN MELBOURNE

Saturday 1 December marks not just the first day of summer, but also the first day that Trojan Workforce Western Melbourne is open for business.

Gavin Baldan, Victorian State Manager, says the new location enables Trojan to capitalise on the strong client and candidate relationships cultivated by the Mulgrave branch in other parts of metropolitan Melbourne.

“Twenty per cent of our business is already based in Melbourne’s west,” he says. “The new branch at Brooklyn Business Park is more convenient for candidates from Melbourne’s northern and western suburbs.”

The new staff team specially recruited for Western Melbourne will ensure Trojan clients and candidates continue to experience our strong service and delivery ethos.

Best career advice ever received? Always have an open mind and seek out new opportunities – don’t wait for them to come to you. Don’t take the safe option; you never know what good things will come from taking a chance.

Most useful tool on the job? My easy-going personality! Sometimes it’s difficult starting a new job, but I have a knack of getting along with people and haven’t changed clients much as a field worker.

Ideal career in five years’ time? I’m moving to Brisbane this summer, and while I’ll stay with Trojan Workforce, I’m considering going to film school. I’ve enjoyed amateur filmmaking as a hobby, but it’s still good to have a trade to fall back on.

Most unusual jobsite? I’ve seen some unusual sights, but none fit for publication in a respectable newsletter!

Who has inspired you most at work? During my apprenticeship my supervisor taught me about working on site, versus cabinetmaking in a factory. With this understanding, I became a better tradesman in the factory.

QUEENSLAND BRANCH SCOOPS AWARDS

Trojan’s Queensland offices have been enjoying the fruit of their hard work in the last few months. The Brisbane, Brisbane South and Toowoomba branches picked up the ‘Team of the Year’ award at the ABAs, and John Stegman won ‘Salesperson of the Year’.

John’s contribution has also been recognised through his recent appointment as Brisbane South Branch Manager. With 20 years recruitment experience, John joined Trojan as an Account Manager two years ago.

“I really enjoy the close working relationship and collaborative approach of our Brisbane, Toowoomba and Brisbane South branches,” says John.

Meanwhile, Toowoomba is participating in The University of Southern Queensland’s Industry Experience Program. Human Resources student Sean Bennett is gaining valuable work experience at Trojan part-time for about three months.

LABOUR HIRE DEMAND SURGES

The warmer months are traditionally the busy period for the building and construction and industrial application sectors.

“We are already gearing up for increased demand,” says Ross Martin, Branch Manager of Southern Sydney Trojan Workforce. “Your local Trojan office can help – whether you need 1 or 101 temporary staff.”
