TROJAN TEAMS TACKLE SHUTDOWN SERVICES
Clients in the resources, manufacturing and heavy industry sectors have welcomed a unique Trojan Workforce service that meets their need for ‘crack teams’ to fly in and deliver shutdown services and special projects.
The self-supervised teams from our new Engineering Services Division are undertaking short-term assignments in these industries in ways that make it easy for the client.
“Unlike other firms that supply technical staff that clients must then supervise, Trojan assembles teams of specific tradespeople and supervisors that work together and can transfer from site to site,” says Martin Hurst, Engineering Services Manager at Perth’s Trojan Workforce.
While the Division is based in Western Australia, teams can be assembled and customised to client needs for projects anywhere in Australia and may include mechanical and electrical trades through to metal workers, or even Trojan combining with other suppliers to provide hundreds of staff for major shutdowns.
Decorative surfaces company Laminex recently hired a Trojan team of six for a three-day shutdown that involved repairing equipment, and recommissioning and testing to get the plant back up and running quickly and to the client’s satisfaction.
“Three stand-alone mechanical tasks were scoped and costed on a lump sum basis,” explains Michael Banks, Mechanical Maintenance Coordinator at Laminex’s Welshpool plant. “The team completed the tasks on time and within budget and even undertook a few extra minor works. We look forward to using Trojan’s capabilities in the future.”
Though an event may only last 28 days, planning for major shutdowns can start a year in advance. Our planners can work with the client for up to six months prior to the shutdown to help assemble the team, and determine staff numbers and the required skills and trades.
“Most shutdowns require 24 hour coverage, necessitating day and night shifts. Trojan puts the team together and a week prior to the job we mobilise the staff for medicals, induction and travel to the site so that they are ready to start work on day one.”
Many of our staff are experienced in the resources sector and have industry approved health and safety training or inductions for specific sites.
Trojan can also provide self-supervising teams for equipment modification and installation projects and for post-engineering implementation plans.
