Corus catch up

PERTH TAPS INTO OIL AND GAS

Corus Perth has expanded into the oil and gas market with the appointment of Samantha Coles.

With mining and industrial recruitment experience, Samantha has been building Corus’ profile in the oil and gas market and has filled geology and engineering roles.

Defying the skills shortage, Samantha has found excellent geoscientists, exploration geologists, project engineers and senior project and piping engineers.

“I believe it is important to specialise in order to understand the market and provide the best service for candidates and clients,” Samantha says.

CORUS WALKS FOR CHARITY

Corus Adelaide staff were among 29,000 people who took part in September’s City to Bay Fun Run.

Corus consultant Amy Arcangeli decided to run for Corus client Royal Society for the Blind and managed to persuade colleagues Jay Strong, Kate Taylor and Leonie Fawcett to join her.

“We completed the 12 kilometre walk in two hours and 20 minutes,” Amy says. “It was a great chance to raise money for the Royal Society for the Blind and have a good time with work friends.”

Best career advice ever received?
Be honest and transparent in all your work practices, follow through when you make a commitment to your staff or colleagues, and match your strengths to the task at hand.

Tips for work/life balance?
Make sure you leave work at work. Set aside time for recreational activities and relaxing in peaceful environments. I try hard to ensure family time is quality time, and especially enjoy bonding with my granddaughter Sienna (pictured).

Ideal career in five years time?
I’d like to continue progressing my career by moving to a more senior position.

Most unusual job?
Very early in my working life I had to dig holes for long drop toilets. As an apprentice carpenter, this was one of my ‘initiation responsibilities’ along with making the tea.

Who has inspired you most at work?
Bedford’s Day Options programmes provide recreational, leisure and developmental activities for people with moderate to high support needs who are not ready or are unable to enter the workforce. Watching the achievements of those I support is very inspiring.
