RED CARPET ROLL OUT
Trojan Workforce Southern Sydney assembled 50 labour hire candidates to roll out Sydney’s red carpet for more than 200,000 World Youth Day pilgrims.
Long-time Trojan Workforce client, No Fuss Events, knew Gianni Rigutto was the man to help fulfil its task of laying event flooring to protect the grass and turf at Randwick Racecourse.
“We initially supplied 50 contractors, but when the other labour hire contractor didn’t fulfil their quota, we brought more on board,” Gianni explains. “When the job went longer than expected, No Fuss hand-picked 20 of our best blokes to stay another day.”
In true Trojan style, Gianni and his team were on hand to ensure everything ran according to plan. “We had a few early morning starts, mustering the troops at 5.45am to ensure they were ready to board the buses to Randwick,” Gianni says.
Extra services such as a bus charter to the site, meeting points, and a roster that ensured adequate staffing levels ensured No Fuss Event’s Geoff Tucker always had a smile on his face.
SUPPORTING EXCELLENCE
Trojan Workforce recently sponsored the Newcastle Region 2008 Master Builders Association Excellence in Construction Awards.
“It was great to see many of our clients nominated for awards – 90 per cent of the winners were Trojan Workforce clients, and many of our candidates had worked on winning projects,” says Newcastle Branch Manager Corynne McArthur.
Corynne was privileged to present Anthony Harrigan from Belkin Commercial with a Trojan Recognition Above & Beyond Award for his outstanding contribution to OH&S.
“After a dangerous incident on his site left a Trojan worker unable to work for three weeks, Anthony collaborated with Otis Elevator Company to amend work practices involving the delivery of lift bases to sites. The significant changes put in place by 7am the next morning ensured no other workers should be put at risk.”
Trojan was pleased to invite 26 clients as guests and delighted the event’s 430 attendees with gift bags and balloons flying the Trojan colours.
TOOWOOMBA OFFERS TRAINING
Trojan Workforce Toowoomba has joined forces with Transqual National Logistics Training to offer candidates training in Certificate 2 Transport and MR truck licence.
Trojan’s Jocelyn Gelding says the move is a great opportunity for Trojan candidates to upgrade their skills and become better equipped for new positions. The training is fully funded as part of the Australian Government Productivity Places Program.
TROJAN VICTORIA TACKLES NEW INDUSTRIES
Landscaping industry work is booming for Trojan Workforce Eastern Melbourne, which has recently commenced work with three new clients including an instant lawn laying business. The turf business provides both real and artificial turf, and is poised for further growth as Victorian water shortages continue.
Hayley Hibbert will continue to focus on growing Trojan’s landscaping business. She says the industry is attractive for candidates with no landscaping experience, as there is high demand for hard workers.
Across the city, Trojan Workforce Western Melbourne has new clients in the shopfitting, building and construction industries. The branch has also taken on the transport, logistics and manufacturing clients of Logistics Recruitment. Grace Cugliari has joined the team to help with the extra workload.
